Mads wind farm
Project overview
At a glance
The MADS onshore wind farm, which was built in 2017, is located directly on the coast of Lolland. The seven turbines at Mads generate electricity for around 26,000 households every year. The coastal location provides perfect conditions for generating renewable energy.
Why is the asset attractive?
Advantages
- Location advantage Kappel, Lolland: The energy yield is comparable to that of an offshore plant, but the maintenance effort is only that of an onshore operation
- Data-driven evaluations facilitate performance optimization
- Close collaboration with local partners enables a high quality of service
- Low downtime thanks to maintenance in the windless months
- Denmark promotes renewable energies with a premium system
ESG relevance
- The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been approved by environmental and municipal authorities. The EIA includes a standardized catalog of environmental requirements that regulates noise pollution, aviation aids (beacon lights), free access to public footpaths and cycle paths, required warning signs and the protection of local residents.
- The environmental impact assessment in accordance with Natura 2000 areas (EC Birds Directive No. 88 Nakskov Fjord and Inder Fjord, Ramsar Site R23 Nakskov Fjord and Inder Fjord or Habitat of the Community 158) has been positive. The implementation of the construction has demonstrably not damaged any breeding areas in the natural range of the species listed in the Habitats Directive or destroyed any plant species.
